Primary Job Function:
Substance abuse counselor will be in charge with assisting patients through medically assisting treatments and offering techniques for handling opioid addiction. Counselor conducts individual sessions and group sessions to assist with crisis management and coping strategies. Counselor will evaluate patients progress during counseling and collaborate with doctors, nurses and other counselors to assist the patients achieving overall outcome.

Essential Job Functions:
- Conducts individual initial assessment and evaluation interviews for service eligibility determination
- Ensure efficient and effective delivery of counseling services to all patients
- Facilitates, establishes and reviews with each patient the initial treatment plan
- Develop aftercare plans and discharge plans
- Respond, as needed, to patient grievances and complaints
- Completes Bio-psychosocial assessment.
- Other related duties as determined by supervisor
Qualifications | Education | Certifications:
- LISW, LPCC, LISW-S, LICDC-CS, LICDC, LCDC II, LCDC III, or LSW required
- Previous experience working with chemically dependent individuals a plus. Must demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward our patient population
- Knowledge of local community drug trends, the effects on the body and cognitive functioning of drugs of abuse, signs and symptoms of narcotic overdose, psychosocial implications of addictive disease, the process of addiction and treatment, social service, economic, legal, and medical systems, HIV transmission-health, behavioral, and emotional implications of addiction
- Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check.
