Position Purpose:

Nutrition Services is a high volume, fast paced operation serving 90,000 meals per month.
Key Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities vary per job assignment as described below.
General responsibilities include:
· Consistently strives for and achieves excellent patient and customer satisfaction and service.
· Food are covered, labeled, dated and rotated per policy and regulatory standards. Food temperatures meet regulatory and quality standards.
· Food safety and cleanliness standards are met at all times. Work area(s) are maintained according standards set by regulatory agencies and department expectations.
· Effectively and proactively communicates with coworkers and leadership to ensure department goals and expectations are met.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
NS Worker positions, specific descriptions and additional responsibilities:
Room Service Line:
· Accurately assembles patient food trays in an efficient manner according to patient order ticket.
· Stocks products for service and scans patient trays for tracking.
· Ensures patient trays meet quality and presentation expectations.
Café (Cashier and/or Server):
· Works in Café cashiering or serving food.
· Demonstrates excellent customer service. Ensures name badge is displayed at all times.
· Accurately charges customers for food purchases using computerized cash register.
· Ensures accurate portion control for all customers when serving food.
· Ensures all food served meets presentation, quality and regulatory standards at all times
· Notifies supervisor about customer, food quality, and/or food quantity concerns.
Coffee Kiosk:
· Works as a barista in our high volume, fast paced, Proudly Serving Starbuck’s™ coffee kiosk.
· Demonstrates excellent customer service. Ensures name badge is displayed at all times.
· Ensures recipes are accurately followed and all products meet quality standards.
· Notifies supervisor about customer, food quality, and/or food quantity concerns.
Sandwich/Salad/Salad Bar/Fruit Prep:
· Prepares cold sandwiches, salads, and/or fruit for all service areas.
· Ensures proper labeling of all items served.
· Accurately follows recipes.
· Rotates products ensuring no expired or low quality items are served.
· Assists with developing new ideas and proactively communicates products that do not meet sales expectations.
Dish room:
· Operates industrial automatic dish machine ensuring temperatures meet regulatory standards and dish machine is functioning per expectations.
· Ensures all items are cleaned thoroughly prior to placing into service.
· Retrieves patient trays/tray carts from utility rooms and brings to dish room for washing.
Pots:
· Supports food production and service areas utilizing a 3-compartment sink to ensure pots and pans are clean and allowed to air-dry.
· Uses accurate chemical strengths that meet regulatory standards.
Stock:
There are two stock positions:
1. Responsible for stocking nourishment refrigerators throughout the hospital. Ensures food is rotated, dates are checked to ensure no expired items.
2. Responsible for stocking deliveries of cases of food to walk-in refrigerators/freezers and storerooms. Pulls stock for department orders. Ensures food is rotated, dates are checked to ensure no expired items.
Qualifications:
· Proven excellent customer service interactions required.
· Effective listening skills and the ability to follow through with directions are essential.
· Requires the ability to read, write and communicate in English effectively and perform basic math.
· Must be able to accurately use measuring tools and follow recipes.
· Must be able to work under stress of deadlines, work independently, and work as part of a team.
· Schedule must permit early morning or evening shifts, as well as days, weekends and holiday shifts.
Certification: Employee must have one of the following:
· A current and original ANSI-accredited food handler certificate recognized by the EHD in accordance with Arizona State Ordinance requirement.
· For the purposes of the Arizona State Ordinance, other Arizona County food handler cards will be accepted and valid until the card expires.
Preferences:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Previous foodservice experience.
Special Position Requirements:
Exposure Categories: Category II: Expected duties have possible, but not routine, potential for exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues.
Work Requirements:
· Position requires completing manual tasks at a fairly rapid pace.
· Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds, stand for long periods of time, stoop, bend, and reach.
· Work is performed in an open kitchen and requires going into refrigerators and freezers.
· Requires the use of a variety of chemicals specifically designed for required cleaning and sanitizing.
