REPORTS TO: Executive Chef – Bayfront Convention Center & Kitchen Manager – Erie Insurance Arena
STATUS: Full time / Non-Exempt
FACILITIES: Bayfront Convention Center
HOURLY RANGE: $15.00 - $21.00 per hour + Benefits Package
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Kitchen Steward is responsible for assisting in the cleaning and sanitizing of the kitchen and equipment. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, washing dishes, glassware, silverware, cookware, kitchen equipment and returning them to their proper areas, and assist with stocking. The Kitchen Steward must have the ability to creatively solve problems in a fluid environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience in public assembly facilities or hospitality industry preferred but not required. He/she must pass a background check. Candidate must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, other staff, vendors, and public. He/she must be well organized and detail-oriented. He/she must be able to work non-standard work week. Candidate must be able to walk, climb, lift fifty pounds and have manual dexterity and motor coordination.
STEWARD JOB DESCRIPTION:
• Washes plate ware, glassware, silverware, pots/pans, and kitchen utensils while adhering to sanitation and cleaning procedures.
• Ensures that all dishes, pots, pans and trays are clean when removed from the automatic dishwasher.
• Returns all washed dishes, pots, pans and trays to their proper storage area.
• Maintains safe floors in kitchen and customer service work areas.
• Thoroughly cleans all hard tile floors periodically throughout the day and at the end of the day including: food storage room, walk in cooler and freezer room.
• Restocks shelves with all paper products.
• Performs sanitation projects assigned by Executive Chef and Kitchen Manager
• Assists cooks with putting incoming food and paper items on the shelves.
• Must show demonstrated ability to meet the company standard for excellent attendance and be available to work events as scheduled.
• Assists with prep duties when needed. Cleans and sanitizes throughout the shift
• Utilizes all procedures with regard to sanitation and hygiene.
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
• Organizes and stocks clean small wares wherever appropriate.
• Breaks down and re-assembles dish machine as needed.
• Maintains proper wash and rinse temperatures.
• Follows Erie Events policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
