As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial and Investment Banking, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. In this impactful role, you will develop customer-facing user-interfaces and dashboards that enable our innovative payment systems. You will identify opportunities to improve engineering aspects and implement them. You will design and build intuitive and efficient experiences for our customers to address their business needs and pain points.
Job responsibilities
- Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
- Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
- Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
- Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
- Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
- Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
- Designs and develops features on customer facing user-interfaces
- Supports customer-facing portal in production
- Mentors junior members of the team with engineering & front-end development
- Builds infrastructure to improve release agility and quality (e.g. test infrastructure, better instrumentation/monitoring)
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience
- Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Advanced in one or more programming language(s). Working knowledge in Java or Python
- Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
- In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
- Expertise in JavaScript, CSS, and HTML5
- Experience using modern front-end tools such as React, Redux, SASS, webpack, jest, etc.
- The ability and willingness to take complete ownership over a feature, bug or entire project and drive it to completion.
- Ability to work full-stack (comfortable switching between the front and back-end)
- Experience in Restful API design and implementation
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience with public/private Cloud technologies
- Experience designing Distributed Systems
- Ability to lead collaborative teams to achieve organizational goals, and passionate about building an innovative culture
