Job DescriptionRole Title :Functional Tester
Location: Mechanicsburg, PA
Required Skills:

REQUIRED SKILLS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Candidate must have at least 2-3 years of IT experience, of which the last 1 year is focused on end-to-end software testing, including creating and executing test scenarios, analyzing, and documenting software defects based on stated requirements and design specifications.
- Knowledge of the public sector, specifically state government programs and applications.
- Good understanding of interpreting business requirements, system design, and creating compelling test scenarios
- Proficiency in at least one test case management and defect management tool.
- E.g., Microsoft Test Manager (MTM), HP Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), Quality Center (QC)
- End-to-end solid knowledge of SDLC (software development lifecycle) and STLC (software testing lifecycle) in waterfall as well as agile methodology
- Must be able to create SQL queries against an Oracle database when necessary to verify business scenarios have been met.
- Experience with data conversion environment involving legacy systems to the modern technology platform.
- Analyze test results against functional design and expected results.
- Manage defect creation, tracking, prioritization, and coordinate resolution with the development team and functional leads.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Ability to balance multiple task assignments
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Understanding of integrated eligibility worker portal and citizen-facing applications is a plus.
Preference will be given to those familiar with government-integrated eligibility systems (Medicaid, SNAP/TANF, or Child Care). - Testing Techniques - Understand the various approaches used in testing, including white-box, black-box, interface testing, coverage testing, and regression testing.
- Experience with methodologies including, but not limited to, Agile, RUP, Lean, or Waterfall
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- Experience in creating and executing automation scripts using VBScript and tools such as TFS Coded UI, Selenium, or Microsoft Test Manager
