About the Job
Manage financial reporting & budget of GAAP reporting companies (Fed & Affiliates, IAS, Not-for-Profits) and manage GAAP accountant employees.
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Oversee and review the following functions for all GAAP reporting companies:
- Monthly financial statement preparation and reporting
- Analysis of financial performance
- Preparation and issuance of not-for-profit required filings.
- Preparation and issuance of required reporting for grants.
- Maintain knowledge of GAAP principles, including proposed changes and potential impact on all related companies
- Manage annual budgeting for all GAAP companies, including not-for-profits.
- Assist with coordination of external audit fieldwork and preparation of support as needed.
- Maintain and perform staff review of personnel and encourage and promote development of employees.
- Represent Accounting & Finance in non-insurance company matters and discussions, communicating clearly and concisely.
- Champion improvements and efficiencies in processes.
- Participate in management of systems used in area of responsibility, including keeping systems current and improving and expanding utilization of technology.

- All other duties as assigned by Director of Financial Reporting
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- BS degree in accounting or finance
- Minimum 3-5 years managing staff
- Minimum 5-7 years of accounting and/or financial reporting experience
MINIMUM SKILL QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent understanding of GAAP accounting principles
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to solution complex situations
- Ability to analyze financial statements
- Ability to lead and motivate others towards achieving corporate and departmental objectives
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet strict timelines
- Excellent organization skills
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 7-10 years of experience in financial accounting and reporting.
- MBA or CPA
- Experience working with not-for-profit companies
