Overview:The purpose of the Electrical Instrumentation Inspector is to provide inspection and quality assurance of contractor’s quality of work in accordance with the NEC, client’s standards, policies, and procedures as it relates to electrical, SCADA, System Analyses Tests (SAT), pressure limiting systems and equipment on natural gas utility facility construction projects. The Electrical Instrumentation inspector duties include, but are not limited to inspection of conduit installation, control piping, tubing, wiring, instruments, valves, SCADA and communication systems and all related equipment. Position responsibilities include inspection and quality assurance of contractor’s preparation, excavation, installation, and fitting of under/above ground electrical, communication and gas lines associated with SCADA controls for natural gas utility infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Surveillance of contractor’s installation, fabrication, and other identified field work as it relates to electrical SCADA installation and other equipment as needed.
- Perform System Analyses Testing (SAT).
- Interpret blueprints, ISO’s, P&IDs to determine conformance to design requirements.
- Conducts visual and mechanical inspections of equipment to troubleshoot and assure proper operation; operates testing equipment to test electronic and mechanical components.
- Use computer and hard-copy documents to receive, review and orient to job specific instructions, standards, job packages, and scope-of-project documents.
- Prepare inspection reports.
- Use computer and hard-copy documents to record changes to job estimates, prints, and sketches.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders and crew members throughout the project to identify and mitigate potential issues, risks, and changes.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the instrumentation, controls, and/or electrical field.
- Working knowledge of quality assurance/control and procedures related to project construction.
- Basic understanding of the National Electrical Code.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must possess a High School diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
- Must possess a valid Driver's License.
- Ability to work and travel in all types of weather conditions.
- Ability to travel and transfer to a new jobsite upon request, throughout the entire SoCal Gas service territory.
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of an apprenticeship in the instrumentation, controls, or electrical field.
- 5 years' experience in the instrumentation, controls, and/or electrical field.
- Previous experience in gas pipeline and instrumentation construction.
- Knowledge and understanding of hazardous locations as per article 500 of the NEC.
- SIEE, CEI, ICC Electrical inspection certification.
- State Journeyman or equivalent electrician license.
- Knowledge and understanding with rigid conduit, bending, and installation practices.

Wage Data Per State Requirements:Salary range for this position is $100,000 - $130,000. The starting salary will be commensurate with skill, education, experience, and working environment.

This job operates both in the field and in a professional office environment. This role routinely travels to project sites and uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones.
