GENERAL ACCOUNTANT
Cajun Industries is currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented General Accountant to join our dynamic team in the construction industry. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate record-keeping, assisting in financial transactions, and supporting the overall financial health of our construction projects. The position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced construction environment.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain detailed and organized accounting records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
- Record and reconcile construction billings on a daily basis
- Record cash receipts to outstanding invoices on a daily basis
- Resolve billing and cash receipt issues and questions
- Monitor and provide status updates to management on receivables that have been outstanding for unusually long periods of time
- Support the Controllers with reporting and analysis of monthly results
- Assists in reconciling accounts; communicate any problems or discrepancies to the Controllers for guidance toward resolution of the problem
- Manage vendor credit application requests for Operations
- Perform special projects for the department, as needed
- Prepare mailings and priority shipments for the Accounting Department
- Prepare labels and maintain files as needed within the department
- Maintain financial security and integrity by adhering to internal accounting controls and confidentiality
- Perform such other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required from time to time –often on short notice - by the CFO and Controller
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Degree(s) must be from a credible college or university
- Proven experience as an accountant in the construction industry
- Knowledge of accounting principles and the application of accounting principles
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
- Excellent verbal and written skills and a willingness to work closely with Operations and others in the Accounting department
- Basic mathematic skills and the ability to analyze data
- Ability to multi-task, establish priorities and organize efficiently
- Strong computer skills, with a proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a familiarity with accounting software
