Day In the Life of an General Contracting Estimator
Do you have a keen eye for detail and a passion for seeing a project come to life? Are you interested in a career that applies your love for numbers and industry knowledge with an impactful part of a project? Great! With the support of our self-perform team, our General Contracting Estimator role may just be the perfect growth opportunity for your career.
Working primarily at our Lansing headquarters, our General Contracting Estimator will support our self-perform division while assisting in some project management tasks as needed. So, what does this mean?
We would count on you to support our team with:
- Demonstrate and maintain clear, effective communication with owners, architects, partners, teammates.
- Being thorough. Performing a comprehensive estimate take-off.
- Verify and analyze. Review drawings and specifications and clarify contractual terms and conditions.
- Relationship building. Not only do we build awesome things, but we pride ourselves the most on our relationship building. You'll build and manage relationships with teammates, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Bid-day prep and participation. Develop appropriate pricing and schedule; put together scopes of work for all major subcontractor packages; coordination of bid-day submission and delivery.
- Ensure a complete, responsible, and comprehensive bid. Regularly confirm that job cost and labor cost reports are reviewed and updated.
- Handle of assisting teammates with project management duties.

What Experience You Bring
- Education. Bachelor's degree in building construction management, civil engineering, or equivalent experience.

- Technologically savvy. Construction Management has become very tech-forward. Being able to pick up computer programs and new technologies quickly will aid in your success.
