General Laborers - Emergency Response Team - The Workforce Group

About the Job
The Workforce Group is currently looking for motivated and dependable individuals to join our team as General Laborers. As a General Laborer in our Emergency Response Logistics Support Reservists Cadre Team, you will be responsible for providing essential logistical support during emergency operations. Your primary duties will include loading and unloading materials, operating pallet jacks, and ensuring the efficient movement of supplies at loading docks and loading points. This position requires individuals who are ready to be on standby and can be deployed at short notice to support emergency response efforts.
Location: Disaster Response Locations in Louisiana
Availability: Ideal candidates for these response missions will be available to deploy within 24 to 72 hours of notification.
These are contract positions and, if activated, will likely require travel on short notice, generally lasting from several days to a few weeks and possibly 30 days or more, depending on the disaster response needs.
Responsibilities:
- Load and unload materials and supplies at loading docks and loading points.
- Operate pallet jacks and other material handling equipment.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of logistics operations.
- Ensure the safe and efficient movement of supplies and equipment.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
- Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to achieve operational goals.
- Perform other general labor tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in a general labor or logistics role preferred. Ability to operate pallet jacks and other material handling equipment.
- Ability to deploy on short notice.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
- Willingness to be on emergency standby and deployed at short notice.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Working Conditions: This position requires the ability to work in various environmental conditions, including outdoor settings and potentially hazardous environments. Flexibility to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed during emergency deployments. Must be able to stand, walk, and lift for extended periods.
