Position Overview:
The General Maintenance/Pool Technician is responsible for maintaining the campus swimming pool and supporting general facility maintenance. In this role, you’ll ensure our pool remains safe, clean, and functional, and you’ll handle various maintenance tasks to keep our campus facilities in excellent condition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pool Maintenance: Inspect, clean, and maintain the pool and its surrounding areas, including water quality testing, chemical balancing, and filter system maintenance.
- Repairs & Adjustments: Diagnose and repair pool equipment, including pumps, heaters, filters, and chemical dispensers, to ensure optimal operation.
- Water Quality: Monitor water quality and chemical levels daily, adjusting as needed to meet health and safety standards.
- General Maintenance: Assist with general building maintenance tasks, including minor plumbing, electrical, painting, and groundskeeping as needed.
- Preventive Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance for both pool equipment and other building systems to prevent breakdowns and costly repairs.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and building codes. Identify and report safety hazards or maintenance issues.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of pool maintenance, water testing, and inventory of supplies and chemicals.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the facilities team, school administrators, and other staff to prioritize and complete maintenance tasks efficiently.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in pool maintenance, along with general maintenance experience in plumbing, electrical, and mechanical repairs. Experience in a school, community center, or similar environment is a plus.
- Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in pool maintenance, including water chemistry, pool filtration systems, and basic plumbing. Familiarity with general maintenance tasks.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to diagnose and address maintenance issues quickly and effectively.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50+ pounds, work with chemicals, and work in various environmental conditions (outdoors, mechanical rooms, etc.).
- Safety-Focused: Strong commitment to maintaining a safe environment for students, staff, and visitors, with strict adherence to safety procedures.
- Communication Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with staff, students, and vendors.
