About the Job
Our client is seeking a General Manager to join their team in Abilene, TX! The General Manager is responsible for the strategic planning and execution of all day-to-day operations, including sales (estimating and business development), quality, procurement, safety, customer service and finance. The General Manager is results-driven and has a high commitment to excellence through building relationships, identifying new growth opportunities, leading teams, managing P&L, and efficiently measuring daily operations. This role will require effective cross-functional and collaborative team work to achieve results.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operations across all departments
- Manage budgets, set financial targets, and achieve divisional goals
- Build relationships with clients and vendors and possess an entrepreneurial spirit for growing, managing, and developing new opportunities
- Prepare and implement comprehensive business plans to facilitate achievement by planning cost-effective operations and market development activities
- Implement cost-saving strategies across construction and field operations
- Analyze problematic situations and occurrences and provide solutions to ensure company growth
- Review scopes of work and contracts to ensure alignment with company standards and objectives
- Coordinate with procurement and logistics to ensure timely material availability and cost-efficiency
- Negotiate subcontracts with suppliers and subcontractors to achieve cost-effective solutions
- Provide leadership and direction to the team, ensuring quality and efficiency
- Report directly to the President, providing regular updates on performance and strategic direction
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field preferred
- 5-7 years of experience in an operational/managerial role; painting/construction preferred
- Attention to detail, with the ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks
- Exceptional follow up and follow through on customer communications
- Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills with a highly strategic perspective to best position the company
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Demonstratable experience in developing strategic and business plans
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
