The General Manager for Flora-Bama Marina and Water Sports is responsible for the overall management, profitability, and operations of the marina and its water sports division, including the oversight of the watercraft and fleet assets. This role requires a dynamic leader with comprehensive knowledge of marina operations, water sports management, and asset maintenance, along with strong leadership capabilities to drive business growth, ensure customer satisfaction, and maintain the highest operational standards.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership
- Oversee daily operations of the marina, dolphin cruise, coastal cruiser, and water sports activities, ensuring seamless coordination of services, safety protocols, and guest experiences.
- Ensure efficient scheduling, launch, and retrieval of rental watercraft, including pontoon boats, jet skis, dolphin cruise, coastal cruiser.
- Maintain compliance with environmental, safety, and marine regulations.
- Implement policies and procedures for marina and fleet operations, including staffing, training, and customer service standards.
Water Asset Fleet Management
- Supervise the fleet of watercraft, ensuring regular maintenance, repair, and safety inspections are performed to extend the asset lifecycle.
- Monitor fleet performance metrics, including fuel usage, engine hours, and mechanical performance.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for the repair and acquisition of fleet assets, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Manage and document asset inventory, depreciation, and replacement strategies, ensuring alignment with the marina’s financial goals.
Financial Management
- Develop and manage the marina’s budget, ensuring revenue growth through water sports rentals, service fees, and marina services.
- Analyze financial performance, including profit margins, operational costs, and customer acquisition rates.
- Implement pricing strategies for marina services and watercraft rentals based on market trends and demand.
- Monitor and control inventory, fuel, and other supply costs, maximizing profitability.
Customer Relations & Service
- Oversee customer engagement, ensuring a high standard of service for all guests.
- Manage reservation systems, customer inquiries, and satisfaction levels.
- Handle escalated customer complaints and conflicts, ensuring resolution while maintaining the brand’s reputation.
- In close coordination with the Marketing Director, develop marketing strategies to attract new customers and maintain repeat business.
Team Management
- Recruit, train, and manage a team of marina staff, including dockhands, office associates, and mechanics.
- Develop schedules and ensure adequate staffing for peak operational periods.
- Foster a positive work environment, promoting teamwork, safety, and professional development.
Safety and Compliance
- Enforce strict adherence to Coast Guard and marine safety standards.
- Ensure that all staff are adequately trained in safety protocols, emergency response, and first aid.
- Conduct routine safety drills and inspections to minimize risk.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of watercraft safety regulations and local boating laws.
Property Infrastructure Management:
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager to oversee and maintain the marina’s property infrastructure, including boat slips, pilings, electrical systems, and plumbing.
-Ensure timely repairs and maintenance of critical infrastructure to guarantee smooth operations and safety for guests and staff.
- Participate in long-term infrastructure planning and upgrades, working with contractors and engineers when necessary to maintain and improve property assets.
- Monitor the condition of docks, slips, and supporting utilities, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
-Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marine Management, or a related field preferred.
-5 years of experience in marina or resort management, with a focus on water sports and fleet management.
-Proven track record in managing large watercraft fleets and marina operations.
-Strong leadership, financial acumen, and organizational skills.
-Proficient in marina management software and fleet tracking systems.
-Valid boating license and certifications in watercraft operations and safety.
