General Manager | The Hotel Washington - Schulte Companies

Schulte Hospitality Group is seeking a dynamic, service-oriented General Manager to join our team at The Hotel Washington! This position is responsible for the strategic oversight of operations for the property including sales and marketing, finance, human resources, engineering, property management, and all hotel operations. They will lead the property executive committee to consistently deliver distinctive and memorable service and exceptional operational standards. The General Manager will embrace the property's vision and service culture promoting unity and teamwork amongst all departments and cultivate a supportive and productive relationship with internal and external partners. The ideal candidate will have successfully managed a Union Hotel in the DC market with strong F&B and financial acumen.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Managing budgets and financial plans and controlling expenditure

* Maintaining statistical and financial records

* Setting and achieving sales and profit targets

* Recruiting, training, and monitoring staff -

* Planning work schedules for individuals and teams

* Appropriately responding to and resolving guest concerns

* Addressing problems and troubleshooting

* Ensuring events and conferences run smoothly -

* Hotel Asset preservation. Including but not limited to: Supervising maintenance, supplies, renovations, and furnishings

* Maintaining relationships with contractors, vendor and suppliers

* Ensuring a safe and secure environment for all guests and associates

* Maintaining appropriate inspections of the property as identified by the organization and brand

* Ensure the property meets brand guidelines and expectations for service and all standards

* Ensuring compliance with licensing laws, health and safety, and other statutory regulations

* Perform various other duties as assigned to meet business objectives

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

* 10+ years of management experience in hotel management, particularly luxury/independent hotels.

* Experience opening and managing an independent hotel

* Prior Food & Beverage leadership experience preferred

* Experience establishing new operations and technology and managing through rapid growth

* Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, business or related field, with a graduate degree preferred

* Deep knowledge of hotel industry trends, best practices, rules, and regulations

* Strong understanding of finance/financial statements and operations

* Ability to analyze, prioritize, and delegate as appropriate

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

* Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing 

* Demonstrated ability to lead a team 

* Excellent attention to detail 

* Financial savvy 

* Proficient in Microsoft Office
