The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is dedicated to meeting the IT needs of UC Irvine's faculty, students, and staff. Our goal is to lead in IT services and deliver innovative solutions that support the University's research, education, and community service objectives.
You'll join a newly formed, first of its kind dedicated Generative AI team focused on assisting UC Irvine enhance its research profile, streamline administrative tasks, and support teaching and learning across the campus through Gen AI. You will help both administrative & academic departments and programs work through their processes, provide consultation on Gen AI applications and solutions, assist with implementation in some cases, and help develop communities of practice.
Under the general supervision of the Director of Enterprise Cloud and Client Solutions, the Generative AI Business Systems Analyst applies skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry-wide business process and analysis practices and organizational policies and procedures. Resolves a wide range of business process issues of moderate to complex scope involving the opportunities for application of Generative AI and multimodal AI across research, teaching and learning, and administrative use cases. Develops and maintains campus communities of practice for Generative AI. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques to obtain solutions.
- Thorough knowledge of business and process analysis functions. Required
- Thorough knowledge of related areas of IT. Required
- Strong skills and knowledge of methodologies associated with analysis of processes and problems, information flow and architecture. Required
- In-depth understanding and skill in process and systems requirement documentation standards, such as Use Case modeling, User Story creations and narrative description. Required
- Demonstrated ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds. Required
- Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines. Demonstrates problem solving skills. Required
- Broad knowledge relating to software design. Preferred
- Thorough knowledge of business processes and procedures. Required
- Demonstrated testing and test planning skills. Preferred
- Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Interpersonal and communications skills to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Required
- Skill and experience with Generative AI prompt engineering. Required
- Ability to quickly learn and stay up to date on Generative AI developments. Required
- Experience developing and maintaining user communities. Preferred
- Instructional design expertise. Preferred
- Through knowledge of currently available AI tool sets and their applications. Required

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $73,900- $133,700 (Annual).
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience of professional experience in business systems analysis and one (1) year of Generative AI and prompt engineering experience using Gen AI technologies such as ChatGPT, Claude, and/or Midjourney and their application to improve user experience and outcomes.
- Experience working directly with a variety of customers and end-users across skill and leadership levels.
