LEMOINE is seeking Generator Technicians to join our Disaster Restoration team in response to Hurricane Milton. This role is essential for supporting recovery efforts by installing, maintaining, and repairing generators in storm-affected areas. The Generator Technician ensures continuous power supply to critical disaster response operations, making it a vital position for ensuring safety and recovery progress. You will work in Tampa, Florida, and surrounding regions impacted by the hurricane, supporting temporary power solutions for homes, businesses, and emergency facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain various types of generators in disaster recovery sites.
- Ensure proper operation and maintenance of power generators for temporary facilities, homes, and businesses.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and perform repairs on generator systems.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on generator units to ensure efficient performance and minimize downtime.
- Ensure proper setup, connection, and testing of generators to maintain stable power output.
- Respond to emergency power outages and service calls in a timely and efficient manner.
- Document all service activities, including repairs, parts replacements, and performance logs.
- Collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, and other technical staff to coordinate generator deployment and power needs.
- Comply with all safety guidelines, ensuring that power systems are installed and maintained according to company and industry standards.
- Provide training and support to site personnel on proper generator operation and safety procedures.
- Work in variable conditions, including challenging weather environments and hazardous locations in the aftermath of the storm.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required; technical certifications or associate's degree in a relevant field preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in generator installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Knowledge of generator types, sizes, and applications, including diesel, natural gas, and propane units.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Certifications preferred: EGSA Certified Technician, NFPA 110 (Standard for Emergency and Standby Power Systems), or related qualifications.
- Ability to use hand and power tools related to generator repair and maintenance.
- Familiarity with load banks, transfer switches, and voltage regulation systems.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Strong organizational and communication skills to maintain accurate service records and coordinate with teams.
- Must be available to work in disaster-affected areas, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Willingness to travel to storm-impacted regions as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in adverse conditions such as heat, cold, rain, and wind, with potential exposure to hazardous environments.
- Must be able to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Capability to stand, crouch, and maneuver in confined spaces for extended periods.
