About the Job
We are currentseeking an engineering graduate, E.I.T. preferred, to join our team in Annapolis Junction, Maryland and participate on a wide variety of geotechnical, instrumentation, and monitoring related projects. Projects are primarily located within Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, and Pennsylvania. Candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with personnel at other HCEA offices throughout the company.
General Responsibilities:
- Will support the office's Geotechnical Group and other departments working under the direction of a Senior Engineer within the office.
- Performs field exploration, inspection, analysis; provides technical support with supervision; including onsite direction of geotechnical drilling activities
- Prepare technical proposals, cost estimates, plans, technical specifications, and reports, including day to day correspondence.
- Perform geotechnical analyses based on site conditions and requirements to support project designs.
- Evaluates laboratory and field data for inclusion in reports.
- Review and interpret data and test results. With experience, may write complete reports.
- Prepares field reports, internal correspondence, sections of formal reports.
- Follows company safety standards, site safety standards, and provides all required permitting.
- Contacts vendors; researches literature and regulatory requirements; prepares draft designs.
- Conducts engineering or scientific calculations; coordinates geometry; performs minimal design work, preliminary analysis, and layout. Performs routine calculations.
- Supports field instrumentation and monitoring activities.
Candidate Qualifications:
- B.S. Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering
- 0 - 2 years of related experience
- E.I.T. preferred
- Enthusiastic, self-starter with desire to provide excellent service to clients
- Strong communication skills (oral and written)
- Computer literate (Word, Excel, Outlook, AutoCAD)
- Valid driver's license
- Willing to travel and work out of town for short periods of time
