WSP is currently initiating a search for a Geotechnical Engineering Specialist for our Pompano, FL office. Be involved in projects with our Geotechnical & Tunneling Team, take on a leadership role, and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.
Your Impact
- Review design submittals (plans, reports and calculations)
- Develop preliminary scope for new projects, estimate units and staff hours, and negotiate with the selected design consultant.
- Review foundation installation plans (piles, drilled shafts, auger cast piles)
- Review of shop drawings
- Coordinate dynamic testing (PDA), drilled shaft testing and vibration monitoring field schedule (Design‐Bid Build projects only)
- Review production pile lengths and driving criteria letters (Design‐Bid‐Build projects only)
- Review data of foundation tests (PDA, CSL, thermal integrity tests)
- Review foundation installation records (piles, drilled shafts, auger cast piles & prestressed soil anchors)
- Review foundation certification packages (Design‐Build projects only)
- Oversight of foundation installation operations (pile driving, drilled shaft, auger cast piles)
- Oversight of retaining wall construction (soldier pile walls, MSE walls, sheet pile walls)
- Coordination and review of vibration monitoring data and reports.
- A resource for trouble shooting Geotechnical issues during construction
- Develop and/or reviews policies, methods, practices, and procedures
- Review program elements for conformance with Department standards.
- Work with the Turnpike Geotechnical Engineer Manager and help with the day-to-day tasks related to the operations of the Geotechnical team, including initiatives, administrative and management tasks. The candidate will be mentored and guided by the Geotechnical Engineer Manager.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Civil Engineering Bachelor’s degree
- 1-3 years of geotechnical engineering experience.
- Knowledge of concepts, terminology, principles and analytical techniques of geotechnical engineering, engineering design, construction, production, and/or operations
- The ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
- The ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments, and determine work priorities to ensure proper completion of work assignments, direct highly complex and specialized construction engineering administration and inspection program
- The ability to perform as a team player and work to achieve goals in a team environment
Ability to accomplish assignments without direct supervision
Preferred Qualifications:
- Engineer in Training Certification.
- Master or Doctoral degree in Geotechnical Engineering
