Dewberry is seeking a GIS Analyst Intern in our Richmond, VA office for Summer 2025. This position will mostly focus on GIS analysis and production efforts in support of various civil engineering and environmental services include site/civil, higher education, energy and utilities, stormwater, and other water resources related projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to join a team of professionals while working in a multidisciplinary consulting and engineering firm. Responsibilities:Technical responsibilities include:
- GIS
- Data feature extraction/compilation;
- Create a variety of digital mapping products using various software platforms;
- Capture and analyze data;
- Create and manipulate databases;
- Elevation data Processing and Manipulation
- Assisting engineers in hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, modeling, and floodplain mapping;
- Production of Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMS) and updating related geospatial databases;
- Developing flood risk products and performing flood risk assessments;
- Perform analysis on GIS datasets for flood hazard mapping and risk projects;
- Checking for graphical and technical accuracy of FIRM deliverables and associated reports;
- Coordinating with the project team, project managers, clients, local communities, and other contractors to compile all data necessary to produce the most up-to-date product
- Currently working towards Bachelor Degree or higher in geography, GIS, Remote Sensing or related field
- Demonstrated proficiency with the ESRI ArcGIS Desktop
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
- Participates in resolving technical challenges
- Proficiency in basic computer applications, especially MS Office (Word, Excel, and Access).

Program Information:Summer Intern Program
During the summer intern program, interns gain hands-on project experience, develop technical skills, and put their classroom knowledge into action. Our interns are assigned meaningful work and are given the opportunity to work on projects similar to what they would be engaging with as a full-time employee.
