SONNY’S currently has an opening for a Commodity Manager to join our team at one of our SONNY’S locations. In this role, the Commodity Manager will report to the Director of Strategic Souring. As the leader of this team you will be responsible for developing and managing a strong partnership with our business segments, plants, distribution centers and their teams to proactively plan the management of their existing supply base, including developing and executing strategies to support our corporate and organizational goals. In addition, you will collaborate with Product Managers and Engineering to plan for sourcing new areas of spend. By leveraging yours and the team’s capabilities in strategic sourcing strategy planning and execution, you will ensure that SONNY’S is maximizing the value by driving to the lowest total cost of ownership, increasing the quality of service delivery, and minimizing supply chain risks. You will also support the growth of the business, manage global supplier relationships to ensure strategic alignment and sustainability, oversee suppliers to continuously improve quality, delivery and price to support supply chain operations
Responsibilities:- Develop and implement global sourcing strategy to drive world class supply chain performance, optimize total cost, align Supply Chain commodities and strategy to objectives - for sustaining production, new product development & introduction, and research & development activities
- Lead high performing cross-functional teams to create and maintain sub-commodity strategies based on technology needs, market conditions and risk. Work across Sonny’s global footprint to select the best suppliers to optimize total cost including pricing,
- Partner with all business segments to resolve unique challenges and provide subject matter expertise in strategic sourcing and category management to achieve goals and improve performance.
- Support new product development projects in component selection, supplier engagement, procurement, and disposition of development components, provide input into end-of-life component management based on risk and customer requirements.
- Proactively give strategic guidance to the business based on a deep understanding of business needs and analyses of data and trends.
- Initiate and manage long-term supplier contract agreements.
- Develop benchmarks and balanced scorecards to drive operational performance and to drive continuous improvement, drive improvements to supplier performance including quality, on-time delivery, inventory management, cost, and payable terms.
- Create and manage strategic supplier partnerships to ensure continuous performance expectations are met and year over year productivity targets are achieved by conducting proper supplier management techniques, Conducts and leads business reviews with key suppliers.
- Develop and implement long-term commodity strategies to lower total cost of ownership (TCO) and offer world class customer service to key stakeholders and Make vs. Buy analysis.
- Set goals and KPIs, provide a compelling vision and motivating work environment. Achieve annual organizational objectives through cost reduction, cost avoidance, revenue and margin improvement, and risk mitigation.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, transparency and performance.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Have earned Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Have 8+ years sourcing experience with considerable understanding of procurement concepts, principles and at least 5+ years of commodity or category management and Global Strategic Sourcing experience.
- APICS or CAPM certification a plus.
- 5+ years MRP experience, preferably with SAP
- Have deep understanding of raw metal alloys, subtractive manufacturing, castings, forgings, stampings, etc
- Have experience and developing & executing commodity strategy and category leadership role (e.g. responsible for multiple businesses within a company, spend over $50M).
- Have deep understanding of one or more of the following key commodities: metals, plastics, electronics, motors, pumps or power transmission.
- Demonstrate strategic decision making skills regarding business planning processes, make/buy decisions, and similar business related concerns.
- Have experience working and developing international suppliers.
- Demonstrate strong collaboration and communication skills across all organizational levels, both internally and within supplier organizations.
- Exhibit a high degree of autonomy with the ability to work effectively in a team environment to pull disparate pieces together across the organization and "get things done".
- Have the ability to partner with department leaders to identify, create, and plan capabilities necessary to meet short and long-term business needs.
- Demonstrate a continuous improvement ethos; ability to identify areas of opportunity and positively influence business decisions.
- Have proven ability leading negotiations and supplier contract management.
