About the Job
Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio is currently seeking a Computer Technician to join our team in Cleveland, OH. As the Computer Technician, you will be responsible for processing computers and computer components. You will assist in the day-to-day processing and movement of materials and donated merchandise that is transported to and from our retail stores, attended donation centers, and other Goodwill locations.
Essential Functions:
- Maintains production area free of dirt, dust, fallen merchandise, and clutter. Maintain a clean, neat, and safe work area
- Responsible for inspecting, sorting, and disassembling computers or related items into individual commodities and organizing outgoing products for salvage or sale
- Packages retail merchandise, identifies and demonstrates an understanding of items that can be packaged together or items that cannot be salvaged but should be processed separately
- Maintains accurate inventory of all supplies and components
- Processes items efficiently based on company needs and adapt to changes in commodities processing and relevant markets
- Transports merchandise to the staging area, stocks gaylords, wraps and rotates merchandise, and loads trailer as applicable
- Assists in the efficient movement of goods from the warehouse to and from storage or production areas with the aid of material handling equipment as needed
- Provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers
- Accurately lists items on online marketplace
- Ensures assigned deliveries and pick-ups of materials and merchandise are completed in a timely manner
- Follows all safety protocols established by GIGCECO
- Other duties as assigned
Specific Experience/Skills/Abilities:
- Previous computer technical experience is required
- Computer refurbishing certifications preferred
- Ability to use critical thinking skills
- Creative problem-solving skills
Basic Requirements:
Education and certification: Computer refurbishing certifications are preferred.
Work Conditions: Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment as required. Ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects as required by the job. Ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer). Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs regularly and up to 60+ lbs occasionally. Might be required to lift heavier items with assistance. Works on weekends as required.
Equipment: General office equipment and phone system, hand jack, tilter, compacter, floor machine, may operate a forklift.
