About the Job
Our client, a non-profit organization, is seeking a Grant Accountant to join their growing team
The Grant Accountant will possess prior working knowledge in grant accounting and is excited to develop their skills within accounting and grant funding.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$55k – $70k
Position Overview:
The Grant Accountant will be the primary assistant to the Manager of Grants & Contracts, reporting directly to them and working alongside them in a lean department
This is an incredible opportunity for a Grant Accountant professional to be immersed in month-end close activities
The ideal Grant Accountant candidate will have working month-end close experience and prior knowledge working with awarding agencies and preparing journal entries.
Responsibilities of the Grant Accountant:
Assist with processing, recording, and generating billing invoices for payment and monitor collections and the aging report.
Maintain an understanding of contract and grant requirements to ensure compliance with contract guidelines, regulations, and requirements for billing.
Help in preparing spreadsheets, schedules, and other supporting documentation to ensure deadlines are met.
Assist with preparing monthly contract progress reports, preparing and submitting reports, and invoices, including quarterly reports by established deadlines including revenue and expenditure reporting.
Assist in monitoring contract expenditures to ensure all contract funds are utilized and that all expenditures are allocated.
Maintain all contract billing documents, reports, and files including original contracts, contract billing-related correspondence, amendments, and payment schedules.
Provide support to the Accounting department as required.
Assist with special projects and other duties as needed.
Qualifications for the Grant Accountant:
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in billing and/or contract management in a nonprofit environment and/or with Department of Education and/or Department of Labor contracts is highly preferred.
Proficient experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Ability to handle several tasks and respond effectively to unexpected changes, requests, and stressful situations.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics is required.
