About the Role: CAIR-LA is seeking a temporary Grant Writer to join a dynamic, mission-driven team. The Grant Writer will drive efforts to secure vital funding that empowers CAIR-LA to create meaningful impact in BAMEMSA communities around the Greater Los Angeles area. This position will be responsible for crafting compelling grant proposals, building and nurturing relationships with funders, and ensuring that our programs and departments have the financial support needed to thrive and expand. We are looking for someone experienced in grant writing who embodies a sense of initiative, ownership, resourcefulness, and a solution-oriented mindset.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Research grant opportunities from foundations, government, and corporate sources
- Draft grant proposals and supporting documents based on the funding requirements of the organization's opportunities
- Attend appropriate trainings for grant applications, reporting, and tracking as offered by fund providers
- Work with other departments to gather information necessary to complete grant applications and reporting requirements
- Submit proposals and reports to grant manager for approval
- Respond to internal and external queries on drafted and submitted proposals
- Maintain positive relationships with fund providers and other stakeholders
- Maintain system for document tracking, follow up on grant deliverables, and submit reports as required on a timely basis
- Assist with other Development projects as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in English, communications, creative writing, or related area
- Minimum of two years' experience in grant writing
- Ability to study and understand programs and funding requirements of the organization
- Strong communication skills (oral & written); ability to write persuasive proposals
- Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet strict deadlines
- Must have strong initiative and demonstrate the ability to learn in a self-directed manner with minimal supervision
- A record of measurable results in securing grant funding
- Comfortable working productively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with a rapidly growing organization
