Candidate Description 
The Grants & Advocacy Coordinator will serve as the organization's lead staff member for grant management. The Coordinator will provide grant support across the organization, focusing primarily on government grants and development grants (organizational, corporate and/or foundation). This cross-departmental position reports to the VP of Policy & Advocacy and works closely with the Development Manager. The Coordinator will also provide support to the organization's advocacy activities.  
The Grants & Advocacy Coordinator must be a motivated self-starter who demonstrates integrity, accountability, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. This is a full-time non-exempt position, averaging 40 hours per week. Occasional work outside normal business hours is expected.
Specific Responsibilities 
Grants Management (75%) 
- Serve as lead staff for writing and managing grants, supporting the Policy & Advocacy and Development departments
- Create and manage internal systems for tracking grant information, including submission and reporting deadlines
- Ensure timely submission of all grant applications and reports 
- Collaborate across departments to gather necessary information and program data for funding requests and progress updates  
- Prepare and submit grant reports for local government partners and other funders
- Ensure compliance with terms and conditions of grants received 
- Proactively research new grant opportunities 
Advocacy Coordination (25%) 
- Support departmental strategies to engage stakeholders in advocacy efforts to support affordable housing 
- Maintain calendar of housing-related local government meetings and community events  
- Track and report advocacy related metrics 
- Collaborate with Communications Manager to create relevant advocacy content, including for Habitat's website and social media 
- Support organizational efforts focused on racial equity and housing 
- Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external audiences  
- Provide administrative support to the Policy & Advocacy Committee  
- Other duties as assigned  
Desired skills and experience:  
- Experience with government and non-profit grant writing, tracking and compliance   
- Strong attention to detail 
- Excellent writing skills and ability to connect with multiple audiences  
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects 
- Proficiency with spreadsheet and presentation software 
- Interest in affordable housing policy and local government a plus 
- Proficient in MS Office
- A current and valid [NC] drivers license
Hourly Range: $20-28.20
Compensation: Commensurate with experience and abilities. Benefits package includes holidays and paid time off, health insurance, 401k, and long and short-term disability insurance
