Job Summary
The department of Grants & Contracts Accounting is looking for a curious detail-oriented person to become a team member in support of the research mission at the University of Utah. This
position provides post award central administrative guidance to University faculty and staff while interacting with outside entities in regard to the financial matters of sponsored institutional research projects. Responsibilities
1. Prepares, reviews, and finalizes complex financial reports and invoices for submission to sponsoring entities, at an institutional level.
2. Analyzes awards for the creation of projects and associated attributes within the University’s financial system.
3. Provides expert advice, guidance, and training to university departments regarding sponsored awards and appropriate administrative processes.
4. Enforces compliance and ensures consistency with federal and state regulations, University policies and procedures.
5. Collects and prepares all relevant financial information for award close-out.
6. May provide information for audits.
7. Assists in solving financial problems related to the administration of awards.
8. Reviews, interprets, and implements sponsoring agency rules and processes corrections to financial statements.
9. Reviews receivables and pursues collection of problem receivables.
10. Manages various databases and maintains data integrity.
11. Communicates and resolves issues with appropriate funding agencies.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or 8 years of relevant work experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).

Preferences
1. Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
2. Experience in research administration and sponsored project administration is preferred.
3. Experience in higher education or state government is preferred.
4. A thorough understanding of the rules and regulations associated with federal, state and private grants and contracts in a university environment is preferred.
5. Working knowledge of PeopleSoft software is a plus.
