About the Job
CVP assists federal civilian agencies with the implementation of large-scale marcomms initiatives. We are looking for a Senior Graphic Designer to support our growing strategic marketing and communications projects. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience in graphic design across a variety of mediums, including experience in supporting federal, state or local government clients. Ideal clients will have experience in the federal space, with work product supporting a broad array of agency-level initiatives, to include recruiting, retention, employee engagement, agency program offices, and others.
The Graphic Designer collaborates closely on a small team at a secure government site in Maryland. They will directly engage with clients to brainstorm, collaborate, design, and deliver client products for internal and external audiences. They will understand how to translate products for optimal display across a variety of mediums, including print, PDF, social media, web, and video formats. They will be familiar with modern standards for accessibility and/or Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, its requirements, and how to appropriately design products to maximize accessibility.
- Producing engaging graphics, infographics, reports, templates, presentations, and other visual communications products.
- Conceiving and designing marketing, publication, digital, print, and motion graphic assets for use across various media (e.g, social media, web, video, print, and OOH).
- Distilling complex information into compelling visual stories.
- Staying current with design and visual communications trends.
- Specifically,
- Conceptualizing digital production and design initiatives, and developing promotional, technical, informational, and event-driven artistic comprehensives.
- Assessing and analyzing methods and using resources and skills toward meeting project media production.
- Creating graphical depiction of Intelligence products, streamlining intelligence through graphic depiction and data assimilation to produce visual productions of strategy and mission concepts.
- Generating digital graphics to include trifolds, posters, event programs, invitations, book covers, table charts, bar charts, pie charts, org charts, briefing charts, flow charts, flyers, tickets, business cards, web banners, geospatial maps conceptualize geospatial maps, and other assimilated products.
- Experience in desktop, computer art design, web and graphical design, geographical interpretations, and production experience.
- An active Top Secret security clearance is required for consideration.
- Must be eligible to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in fine arts, design, visual communications, or similar concentration.
- Experience in graphic design or multimedia environment (desktop, computer art design, web and graphical design, geographical interpretations, and production).
- More than five years of experience handling classified documents.
- Portfolio of diverse digital and print design products.
- Demonstrated skill with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, AfterEffects, Flash Professional Acrobat, etc.) as well as CorelDraw, and the MS Suite.
- Specifically,
- Understanding of production and rendering methods using Adobe Professional Flash and Adobe After Effects.
- Ability to operate various computer platforms and OS including Mac and Windows; operate peripheral equipment including printers, CD/DVD burners and audio equipment.
- Ability to perform artistic and technical work to develop professional high-quality posters, detailed geospatial maps, invitations, book covers, charts, flyers, business cards, and web banners.
- Ability to solve visual communication problems by identifying the communications issue, analyze information related to issue, and generate potential approaches aimed at solving the problem.
- Ability to translate abstract concepts into effective visual form in a variety of media, adapt graphics to fit needs of clients and target audience, and utilize state-of-the-art production tools to design, edit, and produce video, audio, and graphic materials.
- Ability to communicate in both oral and written form and explain technical concepts in non-technical terms to staff and customers. Creative to produce art and technical and high-quality drawings should the customer desire.
- Ability to prioritize, organize, and schedule work assignments and projects while working in a deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships across multiple levels within an organization and all its stakeholders.
- Experience working for government or capable of sophisticated design and branding representative of a government agency.
Desired Skills

- Able to be flexible in an operational environment with shifting priorities, often supporting short, high-priority deadlines.
- Proven understanding of typography, color theory, layout, and iterative design across digital, web, and print design.
- Experience creating and managing brand identities, to include developing logos, style guides, and branded assets such as PowerPoint and Word templates.
- Proven track-record of managing and address client needs in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail, creative problem solving, initiative, positive attitude, and a sense of humor.
- Experience with and understanding of 508-compliance.
- Demonstrated skill with Adobe AfterEffects, Premiere Pro, or other video production software.
- Knowledge or experience with HTML5, CSS, JavaScript.
Location
- Onsite five days a week in Suitland, MD.
