About the Job

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Ground Associate Splicer to be an important part of our team. The Ground Associate Splicer will be responsible for splicing and connecting fiber optic cables at ground-level locations, including handholes and underground vaults. This role is crucial for maintaining the reliability and performance of fiber optic networks, particularly in underground installations. This opportunity sits within Cityside’s Field Operations Department. The Field Operations Department team is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic networks, ensuring reliable service for residential and commercial clients. The objective of this position is to ensure seamless connections and optimal performance of fiber optic systems, particularly in underground installations. To be successful in this role, you will have strong attention to detail, effective problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and good communication skills for collaborating with colleagues and clients.

Responsibilities

• Understand Cityside Fiber’s core purpose and values and be passionate about what we do.
• Work in and contribute to an atmosphere of trust and integrity with fellow employees to ensure the overall success of Cityside Fiber.
• Perform fiber optic cable splicing using fusion splicing techniques to ensure seamless connections with minimal signal loss.
• Test and troubleshoot fiber connections using tools such as Optical Time Domain Reflectometers (OTDRs) to ensure optimal performance.
• Install and maintain enclosures to protect fiber splices from environmental damage.
• Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on underground or ground-level fiber optic cables.
• Read and interpret network diagrams to identify correct splicing points and ensure accuracy in installations.
• Blowing micro fiber through micro duct conduits utilizing specialized tools and materials

Qualifications

• High energy individual who is willing to be an integral part of a high growth service provider who puts people first, dares to be different and has fun disrupting an industry.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree in telecommunications or a related field is a plus.
• Previous experience in fiber optic splicing and knowledge of industry best practices.
• Familiarity with fiber optic testing equipment, including OTDRs and power meters.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in outdoor and potentially confined spaces.

• Sharp, analytical, and thoughtful.
• Consistent effort, intense commitment, and willingness to go above and beyond when needed.

• Valid state driver’s license, good driving record, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance.

Location

Our Headquarters and field offices are located in Irvine. [May be required to travel to project/customer sites to fulfill job responsibilities.]

Compensation

Starting at $26 per hour (actual starting rate may vary based on candidate’s qualifications, skills and years of experience).
