Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Groundskeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in grounds maintenance, with a particular focus on irrigation systems, bed preparation, composting, mulch installation, and plant installation. This role is crucial in maintaining the beauty and health of our outdoor spaces.
Key Responsibilities:
Irrigation Management:
- Install, maintain, and repair irrigation systems to ensure efficient water usage.
- Monitor irrigation schedules and adjust as needed based on weather conditions and plant needs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to irrigation systems.
Bed Preparation and Cleaning:
- Prepare garden beds for planting, ensuring soil is properly conditioned and ready for plant installation.
- Regularly clean and maintain garden beds, removing debris, weeds, and dead plants.
Composting:
- Manage composting processes, ensuring that organic waste is properly decomposed and reused to enrich the soil.
- Apply compost to garden beds to improve soil fertility and plant health.
Mulch Installation:
- Install mulch in garden beds and landscaped areas to retain soil moisture, suppress weeds, and enhance the appearance of the landscape.
- Monitor mulch levels and replenish as necessary.
Plant Installation:
- Install a variety of plants, including trees, shrubs, perennials, and annuals, according to design plans and specifications.
- Ensure proper spacing, depth, and placement of plants for optimal growth and aesthetic appeal.
General Grounds Maintenance:
- Perform routine groundskeeping tasks, including mowing, trimming, edging, and leaf removal.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.
- Ensure all work areas are kept clean and organized.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in groundskeeping or a related field, with a focus on irrigation systems, bed preparation, composting, mulch installation, and plant installation.
- Strong knowledge of horticulture, landscape maintenance, and plant care.
- Ability to operate groundskeeping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, and irrigation controls.
- Physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of work.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in irrigation systems or horticulture.
- Experience working in a commercial or large residential setting.
