The Learning Experience team at Chegg Skills leads and implements our learning strategy across all services and products. Collaborating with Product Managers, UX Designers, Instructional Designers, Learning Scientists, and Data Engineers, we aim to help students achieve their learning goals in an engaging and productive way. We focus on student outcomes, work well in cross-functional teams, adhere to learning-specific KPIs, take action quickly, and apply strong business acumen in Chegg's fast-paced environment.
Job Description
The Group Instructional Designer will directly contribute to the production of multiple innovative programs, ensuring top-quality deliverables from third-party vendors. You'll provide critical feedback alongside instructional designers, lead quality control processes to maintain our high standards.
Collaborating with a cross-functional team, you will validate and optimize program designs, document feedback, and ensure the timely completion of all milestones. Our programs use a proprietary model designed specifically to help working adults learn and practice new skills that they can apply in their current roles and everyday lives. The programs created will address the core needs of learners who wish to upskill or transition into new career paths.
The Group Instructional Designer must be knowledgeable of the best practices in adult learning and bring experience developing content and assessments that meet pre-defined learning objectives. They will stay up to date on industry-recognized credentials and skills to prepare students to test for certifications or job outcomes. They will then use this set of findings to inspire informed development of our programs for a designated area and measure the efficacy of the content they design at delivering improved student outcomes.
This is a 5-month contract requiring up to 40 hours per week. This role must be available for scheduled synchronous calls during standard business hours between 9AM-1PM ET.

Responsibilities
- Oversee the production of 3-5 simultaneous programs designed for working adult learners, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables from third-party vendors.
- Ensure feedback is provided to vendors within 1 business day. Feedback must be clear, comprehensive, and well documented to be actionable for vendors and others.
- Must be usually able to meet live (virtually) within 1 business day if needing to discuss and fine tune edits live with vendor contacts.
- Conduct thorough quality assurance reviews of instructional design deliverables, providing feedback to vendors to maintain high standards.
- Coordinate with assigned instructional designers for each program, ensuring alignment with program objectives and learning models.
- Validate and optimize program designs in collaboration with key stakeholders, including Product Managers and UX Designers.
- Lead the quality control process, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and adherence to established standards in all deliverables.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings to provide expertise, share progress, and align on project timelines and expectations.
- Ensure timely completion of all program milestones by monitoring vendor performance and resolving any issues promptly.
- Document and communicate feedback, project updates, and best practices to internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain a focus on achieving measurable learning outcomes for working adult learners across all programs.
Requirements
- 4-6+ years in Curriculum Development, Learning Design, or Instructional Design.
- 3+ years designing for online education platforms.
- 1+ year of team management.
- Strong grasp of user research, competitive analysis, adult learning theory, and skill development.
- Proficient in AI tools like ChatGPT and Bard for content creation and simulations.
- Experience developing programs for various formats and audiences.
- Excellent writing and editing skills.
- Ability to tailor skills and tools to specific job functions.
- Proficient in backward design for content creation.
- Self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, able to handle multiple tasks promptly.
