LIFE Group Teacher
Position Summary: Join our dynamic team at LIFE as a Group Teacher! You will be at the forefront of implementing and organizing educational services for children, aligning with EarlyLearn, UPK, and Article 47 of the DOHMH, while championing LIFE's mission and vision.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Passion: Partner with the LIFE Team to create a nurturing and engaging educational environment for all children.
- Lead with Impact: Train and direct staff in your classroom, serving as both a leader and supporter.
- Individualized Learning: Recognize and cater to children's individual needs, preparing them for a seamless transition into school-age programs.
- Ensure Excellence: Maintain proper coverage and implement LIFE and DOE guidelines effectively.
- Stay Informed: Attend monthly training sessions to stay updated on the latest educational deliverables.
- Evaluate and Enhance: Access and evaluate classrooms using CLASS and ECERS to ensure top-tier education standards.
- Prioritize Health: Ensure cleanliness, sanitizing practices, and adherence to all health protocols.
- Engage Daily: Take daily attendance and maintain accurate records.
- Innovate Constantly: Research and introduce innovative skills and tools to enhance teaching quality for both staff and children.
- Plan with Purpose: Create and submit lesson plans to the director for review.
- Support Special Needs: Develop and implement individualized educational plans for children with special needs.
- Refer with Care: Assess and refer children with special needs to the Director for further evaluation and potential services.
- Track Progress: Enter data in Teaching Strategies Gold three times per year.
- Stay Credentialed: Keep your credentials and training up-to-date.
- Adhere to Standards: Understand and follow Article 47 of DOHMH, ensuring the health and safety of children at all times.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Effective Communication: Excellent instructional and speaking skills, with the ability to convey important information effectively.
- Active Listening: Exceptional listening skills, understanding points made, and asking relevant questions.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift, carry, bend, and stand for extended periods.
- Strategic Teaching: Proficient in using effective learning strategies, and selecting appropriate methods and procedures for each teaching situation.
- Time Management: Strong ability to manage personal time and the time of the children effectively.
Education and Experience:
- NYS N-6 Permanent Teacher Certification.
- Master's degree in Early Childhood or Special Education with a focus on Early Childhood (work-study candidates will be considered).
