The Company:
ADECs services revolve around one mission: Helping individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities find informed choice and possibility. We serve more than 1,200 individuals each year through more than a dozen programs, ranging from music therapy for children to supervised group living for adults.
The Position:
The Guardianship Advocate is responsible to provide required guardianship and personal advocacy services to all persons enrolled in ADECs Guardianship Program. This includes making decisions about clients residence, provision of education, health and general welfare, consent to medical treatment, marriage and other business affairs.
Job Responsibilities:
- Represent ADEC in making all pertinent decisions for each individual on specific caseload as stipulated in respective court issued and court ordered Letter of Guardianship.
- Effectively advocate on behalf of individuals to enhance their quality of life.
- Visit individuals in the Guardianship Program at least monthly.
- Attend and participate in guardianship individuals Interdisciplinary team meetings, Individualized Program Plan, Person Centered Plan, and Nursing Home Quarterly Care Plan meetings.
- Maintain contact with involved family members for respective guardianship individuals.
- Prepare annual reports to the courts on an annual basis.
- Prepare Guardianship Committee reports, attend Guardianship Committee meetings and adhere to Guardianship Committee guidance relative to policy oversight.
- Maintain all required individual documentation.
- Serve as back-up for Protective Services. Responsible for ADECs implementation of the Bureau of Developmental Disabilities Services (BDDS) incident reporting process, including investigations, tracking, documenting, and following state regulations.
- Assist with Abuse/Neglect/Exploitation and Incident Reporting training in New Staff Orientation.
- Ensure compliance of federal and state regulations in addition to ADEC policies and procedures.
- Adhere to the National Guardianship Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelors degree preferred
- Experience with services to persons with disabilities preferred.
- Ability to lift 60 pounds
- Valid drivers license
- Proof of car insurance
- Pass background and negative drug test
