About the Job
As the Gymnastics Specialist, you will help create and lead a culture of high-quality experiences by executing recreational gymnastics programming. The Gymnastics program at the Plaistow YMCA has gymnastics classes, open gym times, vacation programs, dance, cheer, special events, and more! Day to day you will implement curriculum providing progression through gymnastics levels starting with your youngest preschool participants and leading classes that are skill level appropriate. Using your interpersonal skills you will increase member retention and satisfaction through positive communication with program participants, members, and guests. It will be your responsibility to create a fun and safe program environment that fosters in children a joy for learning and participating in our gymnastics programming.
To thrive in this position you must have prior experience working with children and the ability to provide clear instructions for all levels of learners. You can appropriately demonstrate tricks and skills to program participants and proactively engage in all of your work. Qualifications
- Experience Coaching Gymnastics, and Low-Level Team
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
- Must be physically and mentally capable of maintaining the skills of required certifications
- Must be able to physically demonstrate skills taught in gymnastics classes
- Must be able to see and hear an emergency
- Ability to lift equipment and maneuver equipment and weight to 55 lbs or that of a small to average size child
- Must be able to navigate the uneven surfaces on the gym floor
- Physically and mentally acts appropriately and immediately to an unexpected circumstance
