The Healthcare Associated Infections and Antimicrobial Stewardship (HAI-AR) Program Manager is responsible for managing a federal grant, developing goals for the operation of the program, monitoring HAI-AR data and implementing prevention programs in an effort to limit HAIs, decrease drug-resistant organisms, and prevent outbreaks. This position provides oversight for program development, strategic planning, grant writing, contract management, budget preparation and management, providing subject matter expert expertise, and outbreak response. The HAI-AR Program Manager will interpret standards of practice to ensure quality implementation by providing consultation and education to individuals/families/populations/community on safe and effective infection prevention care practices. This position will serve as a technical resource by applying specialized knowledge and expertise in infection prevention and control and drug-resistant organisms to all program staff, department management, other state agencies, the healthcare sector, and the public regarding HAI-AR programming. Therefore, this individual must have strong communication, professionalism, and teamwork skills.
Licenses and Certifications:
A current South Dakota RN license is required.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
A bachelor's degree in nursing with a minimum of 3 years of experience in infectious disease prevention and control.

- Participate in the review of data to identify trends, health problems, and social and economic conditions that adversely affect the public's health;
- Work as a team and individually on projects;
- Communicate effectively in both a written and verbal manner;
- Develop and manage a grant;
- Develop and manage a budget;
- Use word, excel and other programs efficiently;
- Facilitating statewide planning groups;
- Ability to coordinate and interact with other state HAI-AR programs
