Job Description:
- Function as a component engineer assisting the design team on primary component selection, availability searches, alternate component selection and procurement.
- Must have a detailed understanding of high reliability component selection and handling as it relates to milaero avionics and space light programs.
- Must have a proven track record supporting space light programs as a component engineer.
- Provide all BOM (Bill of Materials) management for fabrication, including kit assembly, verification, and maintenance of component inventory.
- Function as the primary interface to fabrication and assembly vendors and provide real time decision making when dealing with challenges that arise with these processes.
- Provide schematic capture and layout support for design engineers
- Support hardware integration by writing, testing and debugging LINUX based utilities, VHDL test benches, and real time LINUX target functional programs supporting a variety of mission needs.
- This effort requires a component engineer to support development of high reliability FPGA based digital and RF/Analog subassemblies.
Required Skills:
- The ability to participate and successfully execute the required job functions within an existing high functioning design team.
- An in-depth understanding of component selection, procurement, handling, reliability, and storage.
- Must have expert level proficiency with Mentor Graphics Modelsim, Questa, DxDesigner and Expedition.
- Must have a proven track record interfacing with high reliability PCB fabrication and assembly vendors.
- Must understand CAD? le formats as they relate to PCB fabrication and assembly.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, in depth knowledge of Xilinx Chipscope for Versal FPGAs and Ultrascale+ MPSoCs
- Experience with debug and handling of space flight hardware
- Excellent lab debug skills
- Must have the ability to work in an exclusively Linux based environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with terrestrial network standards including SONET, OTN, GFP, HDLC standards and RTL implementation methods is desired.
- Additional languages including Perl, TCL, and System C is a plus.
