Hardware - Lab Technician

Summary: The main function of a "Lab Technician, Hardware 3" is to support the testing and development of computer-related equipment for datacenter applications.
Job Responsibilities:
• Execute tests on data center compute and cooling hardware.
• Assemble and modify existing pieces of equipment to meet special needs.
• Build, test, and modify product prototypes using working models or theoretical models constructed with computer simulation.
• Monitor functioning of equipment and make necessary modifications to ensure system operates in conformance with specifications.
• Confer with engineering staff and consult specifications to evaluate interface between hardware and software and operational and performance requirements of overall system.
• Provide training and support to system designers and users.

Technical Skills:
• Experience working with datacenter compute hardware - such as servers, network switches, power delivery units, etc.
• Experience executing and modifying scripts for compute hardware testing, including scripting tools such as Python, CLI, SSH, Redfish, Postman, etc.
• Experience working with UNIX or Linux based operating systems.
• Experience reworking computer circuit boards - i.e. soldering components onto printed circuit boards.
• Experience with electronics test equipment, including oscilloscopes, network analyzers, power supplies, DVMs, emulators, etc.
• Experience with server cooling equipment, including air cooling, liquid cooling, and immersion cooling.
The sponsor is interested in candidates that have data center liquid cooling experience (not biomedical perspective)
Education/Experience:
• Two or four year technical degree preferred.
• 5-7 years of industry experience required.
Candidate Requirements
• Years of Experience Required: 5-7 overall years of experience in the field.
• Degrees or certifications required: No degree is required to be eligible for this role. Most of the skills are acquired through the job training if the candidate did have a technical degree in electronics would be a plus.
• Disqualifiers: N/A
• Best vs. Average: The ideal resume would contain Execute Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) measurements on test boards and engineering validation boards for the validation of interconnect performance experience then they would be the preferred candidate. Either at Microsoft or a similar company to Microsoft, and Data center/Hardware Experience.
• Performance Indicators: Performance will be assessed based on quality over schedule but with reasonable adherence to the schedule.
