Description The Amazon Robotics team is seeking broad, curious engineers to join our robotic manipulation team. We holistically design, build, and deliver end-to-end robotic systems. Our team is also responsible for core infrastructure and tools that serve as the backbone of our robotic applications, enabling roboticists, machine learning scientists, software engineers, and hardware engineers to deploy systems in the field. Key job responsibilities As a Robotics Hardware Engineer, you will design, build, and test innovative systems and module designs such as robotic end of arm tools for our robot FC solutions. The ideal candidate has experience designing and analyzing mechanical systems, enjoys analytical problem solving and possesses practical knowledge of building first of a kind systems. A Robotics Hardware Engineer will be responsible for: - The design, build, test, and documentation of new robotic mechanisms - Working with an interdisciplinary team to create, test and deploy new mechatronic designs, and improve and maintain existing product designs. - Writing requirements and functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures. - Working with the Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Quality organizations as well as vendors to ensure a smooth production transition of design changes A day in the life Amazon offers a full range of benefits for you and eligible family members, including domestic partners and their children. Basic Qualifications - BS in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent and 4+ years of experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment - Established background in Robotics or Mechatronic Systems with technology focus in Actuator and Sensor Evaluation - Experience related to systems architecture, design, and system integration of mechatronic devices. - SolidWorks or similar CAD experience with best practices for part design, advanced assemblies, complex configuration management PDM and PLM experience Strong hands on experience with the ability to craft simple proof-of-concept models - Thorough understanding and use of principals, theories and concepts in mechanical engineering - Strong organizational skills and the ability to work well with teams of hardware and software engineers - Ability to effectively communicate concepts and proposals Desire and energy to work in a fast-paced agile environment Preferred Qualifications - MS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Equivalent 2+ years designing and debugging tooled (cast, injection mold, forge, stamp, etc) components - Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume - Proficiency with Agile Product Lifecycle Management PLM software and ECO's Familiar with using and the capabilities of rapid prototyping equipment (CNC, 3D printing, waterjet, laser cutter,...). - Significant experience with the hardware product development process. The base pay for this position ranges from $105,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market.
