The Campus Engagement Intern (CEI) is a public-facing member of Be The Match on HBCU Campuses. This position educates, engages, and inspires the campus community for their support and participation in a lifesaving mission through presentations, awareness events, and registry recruitment activities. This position is open to in-person students currently enrolled in Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte NC. The internship runs through May 2024.

Primary responsibilities include building and sustaining campus relationships and driving committed individuals to join the Be The Match registry. Key target audiences for Campus Engagement Interns are:
- Students, faculty, administrators, and staff
- Student Organizations
- Athletic teams
- Marching Band
- Campus public relations / marketing team
With the specific focus to increase the diversity of the Be The Match Registry through engagement & education of ethnically diverse students and student organizations.
This position also delivers excellent customer service through the planning and coordination of registry awareness, education, and recruitment activities to align with the vision of campus partners and meet organizational goals and targets. Collaboration with internal partners, such as Member Engagement, Enrollment & Experience and Marketing and Communications, as well as external partners, such as the campus community network, is essential for maximizing the reach of the mission. All duties are performed in compliance with Be The Match policies and procedures.
This role will work collaboratively with a regional Member Engagement, Enrollment & Experience team to accomplish monthly, quarterly, and annual registry enrollment goals. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
- Must be proficient in the use of social media and the power of earned media.
- Knowledge of computer systems, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Ability to:
- Become proficient in Be The Match's registration process and application.
- Comply with Be The Match's confidentiality policy.
- Represent Be The Match throughout campus in a professional manner.
- Provide ongoing and proactive communication to Be The Match supervisor and team.
- Must be willing to take the lead role in on-campus activation events including, but not limited to, developing and implementing a plan to engage target audiences before, during and after events, physical set up and break down of booth/tables/ chairs/etc., and securing and managing volunteers to help ensure the recruitment goal for each event is achieved.
- Show an ability to proactively leverage digital marketing, in partnership with Be The Match's marketing team, to drive recruitment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with an innate ability to develop relationships with other students and campus organizations.
- A passion for public speaking and proficient in using various social media platforms to effectively promote Be The Match's lifesaving mission.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Understanding of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Internet search applications.
- Must show ability to proactively leverage written and verbal communication skills to spread awareness, educate, and grow the Be The Match Registry within the campus community.
Education and/or Experience:
- Currently enrolled in a business, public health, social work, sociology, communications and/or public relations-focused bachelor's degree program at an HBCU. Completed at least 30 hours of relevant coursework. Minimum GPA 2.8.
- One previous internship preferred but not required.
Time Commitment:
- School Year: 15-20 hours
- Will include some weekend and evening hours
Pay rate:
- $16.50/hour
