Family Health Centers at NYU Langone, a designated Level 3 Medical Home, is the largest federally qualified health center network in New York State, and the second largest in the nation. It includes eight primary care sites, 40 school-based health centers and dental clinics, four day care centers, the nation's largest dental residency program, and New York State's largest behavioral health program. The network also includes 12 community medicine sites providing care to disenfranchised New Yorkers, comprehensive HIV services, chemical dependency programs, and a family support center that offers educational, vocational, and other social support programs. Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Head Cook.
In this role, the successful candidate The Head Cook is responsible for cooking and preparation of meals in accordance with the USDAs Dietary Guidelines for Americans NYSOFA guidelines the New York City Food Standards and the NYC Aging guidelines It is the Head Cook s responsibility to ensure that food service is efficient and organized and food is served in a sanitary fashion The Head Cook supervises proper functioning and cleaning of kitchen kitchen equipment dining areas and adherence to strict sanitary standards according to policies and standards
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the daily preparation of food based on production menu
- Submit food orders; participate in menu planning receiving and proper storage of food
- Prepare cook and supervise portioning and serving of food as required by NYC Aging
- Maintain food usage records and assist in taking monthly physical inventory
- Take daily temperatures of meals and record them Note any menu changes or substitutions
- Direct kitchen staff and volunteers in proper food preparation handling and other daily tasks
- Attend training as requested by the supervisor
- Complete Food Protection and Simple Serving course as required by NYC Aging
- Provide customer service in a respectful and professional manner
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High school Education or Equivalent Must speak read and write in English Must have worked cooking in a food establishment commercial school senior center or other non profit establishment Must have great customer service
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $22.60 - $34.77 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
