Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Education. Preferred Principal Certification or Curriculum & Instruction Certification
- 5 years of successful teaching experience
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Knowledge of benchmarking and data collection tools such as Study Island, STAR, CDT, State Assessments.
- Knowledge of curriculum content for each grade level and best practices in the instructional design and delivery process.
- Experience with analyzing and presenting data.
- Knowledge of Google Workspace for Education: Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, etc.
- Demonstrate an ability to facilitate communication among coworkers, students, and parents.
- Must be able to evaluate problems, prioritize work, and determine solutions.
- Must possess and maintain valid Pennsylvania school clearances.
Job Overview:
The Head of Curriculum is responsible for creating and maintaining curriculum documents, overseeing curriculum development, and ensuring alignment with educational standards across all MaST schools. This role involves collaboration with staff, administrators, and stakeholders to evaluate programs, analyze data, integrate technology, and provide professional development. The Head of Curriculum must be adaptable and committed to continuous improvement, embracing innovative strategies to meet the evolving needs of the school community. A key focus of this position is to enhance student outcomes by ensuring that all instructional practices, interventions, and curricular initiatives are aligned with the school's mission, values, and goals, ultimately leading to improved student achievement and success.
Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development and Evaluation
- Collaborate with Local Leadership, Department Heads, Lead Teachers, and Integration Specialists to provide support in the development and evaluation of curriculum.
- Develop and implement a strategic plan for long-term curriculum growth and innovation, ensuring alignment with the school's mission, educational standards, and future goals.
- Facilitate the evaluation, identification, and approval of curricula materials and resources for all MaST schools.
- Development and organization of all curriculum-related documents and resources for online accessibility, including course guides, templates, and curriculum maps.
- Conduct an annual evaluation of current programs and curriculum to ensure alignment with established standards and incorporate new concepts that the school seeks to implement.
- Maintain an ongoing and comprehensive awareness of the current state of curricula development across all MaST schools.
- Investigation and implementation of innovative educational programs and strategies aimed at enhancing student achievement in standardized assessments.
- Support the implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Response to Instruction and Intervention (RTII) frameworks, ensuring that intervention strategies are data-driven and address both academic and behavioral needs of all students.
- Provide content-specific curricular assistance and support in the use of the adopted textbook series, supplemental materials, and instructional technology.
- Integrate technology learning strategies using Chromebooks and iPads in collaboration with the Technology Integration Specialist at all MaST schools.
- Provide assistance in the development and organization of summer program curricula.
- Compile textbook and resource orders for all MaST schools.
- Support the common vision, mission, values, and goals of the school.
Data and Assessment Analysis
- Review, analyze, and communicate all data reports from local and state benchmarking and assessments to administrators, staff, and stakeholders.
- Assist local administration and teachers with pulling reports from data programs.
- Coordinate and develop schedules for network assessments.
- Assist with the analysis of PVAAS, SPP, and SPR.
- Solicit, incorporate, and evaluate stakeholder input, including feedback from Board Members, parents, teachers, and students, into the decision-making process.
- Collaborate with the building administration to perform a comprehensive needs assessment, formulate improvement strategies, and evaluate student progress, proficiency, and overall program efficacy.
Professional Development and Training
- Attend trainings on curriculum development, Common Core, data collection, data analysis, and data reporting and keep up-to-date with state regulations and testing standards.
- Coordinate, monitor, and deliver district-mandated staff development and develop localized professional development for all staff, including but not limited to New Teacher Academy, Induction, in school PD days.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to collect and analyze data to identify professional development needs in the school.
- Ensure local leadership and staff members are trained for local and state assessment administration.
Professional Obligations:
- Enforce administration policies and rules governing students.
- Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in developing, evaluating, and revising school programs.
- Prepare reports on students and activities as required by the administration.
- Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Attend staff meetings, and have the opportunity to serve on committees.
- Support extracurricular activities such as clubs, student organizations, and academic contests.
- Adhere to the Professional Standard of Conduct, including confidentiality, code of ethics, and appropriate internet use, as outlined in the Policy and Procedures manual and Staff Handbook.
- Follow all approved board of trustee policies, including Financial and Purchasing, Attendance, RtII, and Curriculum Implementation.
- Complete school-mandated technology PD hours.
- Perform all additional related duties and responsibilities as designated by the CEO, Board of Trustees, or Network Team.
Terms of Employment: Twelve (12) months. Contract terms and salary to be determined by the Board of Trustees.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of state law, administrative code, and the Board’s policy on evaluation.
