Overview of the Role:This key role offers the unique opportunity to help shape and deliver on a critical enabler of Hartford Fund’s vision and strategy: emerging technologies and advance analytics. As the Head of Emerging Technology & Data Science, you will develop and drive implementation of the strategy to integrate emerging technologies and advance analytics more deeply into Hartford Funds’ ecosystem
You will identify and help implement solutions utilizing statistical, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine-learning (ML) modeling approaches and distributed ledger technology to improve business efficiency, cost savings, improved decision making, product and service innovations, and delivering a differentiated employee/customer experience. Responsibilities:Drive the exploration and adoption of new and advanced technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance Hartford Fund’s competitive advantage in the investment management industryDrive innovation ideas and propose a forward-looking advanced technology and analytics (AI/ML, tokenization, blockchain) roadmap that enables the firm’s key initiatives and long-term strategyCollaborate with multiple internal stakeholders to understand business challenges & identify opportunities for AI/ML-driven solutionsIdentify AI capabilities embedded within third-party technologies current used that can be leverage for business valueLead a small team including direct reports in conjunction with a broader collaboration across the IT department to design, test, tune, and deploy machine learning that turns data into actionable insights and/or automation solutionsOwn and maintain a comprehensive catalog of solution patterns for various AI use cases, ensuring patterns are clearly documented and effectively utilized by the team to drive innovation consistently and efficientlyCommunicate and educate leadership on advanced analytics and emerging technology concepts and the art of the possibilityProvide regular updates and reports to senior leadership and our board on the progress and impact of advance analytics and emerging technology solutionsPartner with our parent company, The Hartford, to leverage their emerging technologies and data science tools and capabilitiesServe as a thought leader within Hartford Funds and the broader investment community, representing the firm at industry conferences to stay informed on the latest technology developments and best practices, and build relationships with potential partners and clientsQualifications:Degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Technology, or related field is required; a Master’s degree or PH
D preferred5+ years of related IT, Machine Learning or Data Scientist role, with experience in the financial services sector a plusStrong knowledge of machine learning techniques & statistical conceptsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and develop insights that drive investment decisions and product innovationExcellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex research findings to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadershipDemonstrated ability to think strategically and develop long-term plans that align with organizational goals and drive business growthIn-depth understanding of the investment management industry, including current trends, challenges, and opportunities, with a focus on the evolving role of data in investment decision-makingCompensationThe listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market
Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role
The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees
Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition
