Head of US Professional Development (PD) - Stile Education
Portland, OR
About the Job
From lab-grown meat to the mysteries of the gut-brain axis, from renewable energy to feeding colonies on Mars, Stile is helping science teachers (aka superheroes) prepare students for the challenges of today and the unknowns of tomorrow.
Our mission? To create the best science curriculum in the known universe. We’re equipping students with the critical thinking skills and problem-solving tools they’ll need to tackle the biggest issues facing the world.
We know that however grand our mission is, the true impact of a curriculum can only be realized when paired with the right training and professional development. That’s where you come in.
We’re looking for a passionate Head of US Professional Development (PD) to lead our charge. You’ll help science educators across the country master the art of teaching with Stile to improve student outcomes, engagement and wellbeing.
Why this role rocks:
- Collaborating with teachers on a daily basis: You’ll get to spend time in classrooms all across Oregon and North Carolina, working directly with teachers and students to help bring Stile’s resources to life using evidence-based practices.
- Empowering educators: You get to help teachers discover new strategies, tools, and resources that make their work more impactful. By supporting educators, you’re indirectly reaching hundreds of students who will benefit from these enhanced teaching practices.
- Continuous learning and growth: Developing and delivering PD means you’re constantly learning yourself. You stay updated on the latest research and innovations in education, ensuring your sessions are relevant and impactful.
- Creativity and innovation: Developing great PD sessions requires finding engaging ways to present material—through hands-on activities, collaborative exercises, and thought-provoking discussions. It’s a perfect blend of pedagogy and performance, bringing content to life and actively involving participants.
- Building a community of practice: Through delivering PD, you create a community of educators who can support each other. You’re not just a trainer; you’re a connector, helping teachers share their own strategies and experiences in a supportive environment.
- Seeing real-world results: There’s nothing quite like the feedback from teachers who notice positive shifts in their classrooms after implementing strategies or effectively using the features and resources you’ve shared. It’s tangible proof that you’re making a lasting impact—both immediately as they apply new ideas and over the long term as these practices become embedded in their teaching.
What you'll be doing:
- Developing PD: You'll create and sustain a suite of US-specific professional learning modules, ensuring they are top-notch and aligned with current research. This involves adapting existing resources and building new ones from scratch to meet the unique needs of US teachers and schools.
- Leading engaging PD sessions: You'll lead professional learning sessions that leave teachers inspired and prepared to implement best practices. This includes delivering demonstration lessons, full-day workshops, conference presentations, and webinars that equip teachers with tools they’re excited to use in their classrooms.
- Championing Stile and thought leadership in science education: As a Stile advocate, you’ll partner with marketing, sales, and customer success teams to expand the reach of Stile PD, engaging with districts, schools, and educators to make a meaningful impact.
- Data-driven decision making: You'll use feedback and track progress to refine PD offerings, making each session more effective. Data will guide your adjustments, helping you continuously elevate the quality and relevance of the PD experience.
- Collaborating across teams: You’ll work closely with internal teams and external facilitators to ensure every PD session is seamless and well-organized. Additionally, you’ll train and support contract facilitators, empowering them to deliver with confidence and consistency.
What success looks like:
Within 6 months:
- You know the Stile product and our existing PDs inside out
- You have a deep understanding of our customer schools and the onboarding and implementation process
Within 12 months:
- You’ll have developed a suite of asynchronous US PD modules, achieving rave reviews from teachers and schools alike. This will involve writing and creating content, and working with a video production company to film video content, including illustrations of practice in classrooms.
- All of our in-person PD products will be refined and polished.
- The US team feel confident and well supported to sell, talk about or deliver any of our PDs to schools or districts.
- The Net Promoter Score (NPS) for our PD sessions will consistently be 40+—an indicator that our teachers are loving what they’re learning.
- You’ll have doubled our PD bookings, making Stile the go-to professional learning resource for science educators across the US.
You should apply if:
- You’re obsessed with science education and dedicated to helping teachers reach their full potential.
- You bring experience in designing and delivering professional learning, grounded in a deep understanding of effective pedagogies and strategies for engaging adult learners.
- You’re skilled at blending creativity with evidence-based practices, crafting resources that engage and inspire teachers.
- You’re a jack of all trades – an engaging and experienced presenter, a great writer and communicator, a strategic thinker and a great problem solver.
- You thrive in a fast-paced environment and aren’t afraid to dive into hands-on work – whether delivering PD sessions in person or analyzing data behind the scenes.
- You love travel – whilst we are growing, we need you on deck to deliver the majority of our PD across Oregon and North Carolina – you’ll be smart and strategic with your travel – but you will be on the road a lot as you support our schools in person across the two states.
How you’ll spend your time:
This role will vary from day to day. It will always be interesting but might include:
- Creating and maintaining PD products:
You’ll spend a significant portion of your time designing, reviewing, and updating Stile’s professional learning products. This includes creating asynchronous, in-person, and virtual training modules that are engaging, research-backed, and practical. You'll ensure every piece of PD content reflects best practices in science education and is tailored to meet the needs of teachers. Expect to work closely with our creative team to make these resources not only practical but also fun, interactive, and visually appealing. - Delivering PD sessions (with travel primarily within Oregon and North Carolina):
You'll be on the front lines, delivering inspiring and hands-on professional development sessions to science educators. Whether it's in a classroom running a demo lesson, or running full dayworkshops with teachers, you'll share best practices, demonstrate how Stile’s tools and curriculum can be used to enhance learning, and provide actionable insights. - Data analysis, strategic planning, and project management:
You’ll dive into the numbers, tracking teacher engagement, analyzing feedback from PD sessions, and identifying areas for improvement. Using this data, you’ll refine and optimize the professional learning experience, ensuring it's always meeting (and exceeding) expectations. You’ll also be involved in strategic planning, mapping out the future of Stile’s PD offerings in the US and ensuring that all resources and sessions are delivered on time and on budget. - Collaborating with internal departments and external stakeholders:
You won’t be working in isolation—collaboration is key at Stile. You’ll work alongside teams from marketing, sales, product, and customer success to ensure that PD is aligned with broader company goals and supports the needs of our teacher community. You’ll also coordinate with external facilitators, contractors, and educational experts to bring in fresh perspectives and ensure everyone delivering PD on behalf of Stile is well-prepared and consistent in their messaging.
