Central District Health (CDH) is currently recruiting for a motivated individual to join our dedicated group of professionals as a Health Education Specialist, Senior, (Project Coordinator) for our Drug Overdose Prevention Program.
This position will advance the implementation of effective, evidence-based overdose prevention strategies, including education, technical assistance, and resource distribution across our district while supporting the integration of state and local response efforts.

Typical Duties:
- Educate audiences with varying backgrounds on the risks associated with substance use, substance use disorder (SUD) prevention, and overdose prevention;
- Provide health education and health promotion services related to SUD risk factor reduction and community health improvement;
- Educate community partners and stakeholders on stigma associated with SUD and evidence-based techniques to eliminate stigma;
- Facilitate monthly Public Health and Safety Team (PHAST) meetings with stakeholders in law enforcement, fire, EMS, corrections, substance use treatment providers and more;
- Complete inventory and data tracking for deliverables associated with each funding stream;
- Identify community partners for planning, implementation, and evaluation of SUD prevention, treatment, recovery, and harm reduction initiatives;
- Assist in identifying and/or developing substance and opioid use disorder curriculum and/or educational materials for community education;
- Coordinate, plan, and facilitate educational trainings in-person or via webinar at conferences or to large groups;
- Educate on health policy changes at the physician practice and community group level;
- Develop, coordinate, and/or collaborate with community coalitions to promote disease awareness and prevention;
- Provide technical assistance in policy development;
- Communicate information in a non-stigmatizing manner using person-first language;
- Utilize word processing and presentation-based software to analyze data, review for accuracy, and develop reports, meeting notes, and presentations;
- Develop and monitor partner subcontracts and agreements, including budget and activity progress, and quality assurance;
- Monitor inventory and distribution of overdose prevention and rescue materials, and educational materials;
- Monitor and evaluate program components and report on program progress including fiscal planning;
- Assist in identifying funding opportunities;
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Good knowledge of:
- Public health education principles and practices to include needs assessment, information dissemination and community organization relating to common health problems;
- Basic disease etiologies and preventive strategies;
- Survey methods and basic statistics used to collect and interpret data;
- Training methods.
Experience:
- Developing or reviewing, and evaluating health-related informational material;
- Developing, implementing and evaluating public health education programs.
