Responsibilities
- Conduct outreach and provide HIV health education, counseling and testing services
- Work with individuals to assess individual risk and needs, enrolling those appropriate into an individualized risk reduction program
- Internal and external program reporting
- Oversee completion of program objectives and recommend changes in scope as needed
- Serve as liaison and assist with collaborative support activities with community agencies, local government representatives and other VCC project staff
Qualifications
Minimum
- High school diploma or equivalent with four years of experience in community education and/or direct patient services
- Valid California driver’s license, current vehicle insurance and reliable transportation
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
Preferred
- B.A./B.S. degree or A.A. degree with 2 years of experience in community education
- Experience assisting clients in social services and health care access; knowledge and experience providing HIV/AIDS education and information
- Working knowledge of medical terminology as it relates to HIV disease
Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Knowledge of HIV-related social and emotional issues, demonstrated competency in working with culturally diverse, low income or no income clients
- Preferred skills include demonstrated competency working with LGBTQ, persons in recovery, homeless individuals, and other marginalized populations
- Ability to present information accurately and effectively both verbally and in writing to individuals and groups
- Good verbal and written skills necessary for communication with patients/clients, providers and other staff
- Experience/familiarity with computers, Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel), business e-mail communication systems and internet search capabilities
Pay Range
$21.00 - $23.00
