Health Information/Credentialing Technician - Inpatient Rehab
Shift Hours: Part-Time, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
7:30am - 4pm

Under the guidance of the Health Information/Credentialing Manager, the Health Information/Credentialing Technician assists in the maintenance of timely and accurate paper and electronic records to meet the requirements for licensure and certification.
- Assembles, analyzes and processes records to ensure timeliness, accuracy and completion by medical staff within 3 days of discharge.
- Scans, indexes and/or files paper light and/or miscellaneous reports into the medical record to ensure completeness.
- Performs release of information function and inquires for health information requests, inclusive of telephone coverage for the department consistent with regulatory requirements, state law and hospital policy. (Timely, appropriate authorization, accurate).
- Utilizes established performance improvement processes, as appropriate, to improve the quality of services and documentation (i.e.: monitors HP, IOPCs, team conferences and other work ques). Recognizes and reports problems or discrepancies related to the quality and timeliness of medical records.
- Processes transcription and ensures all jobs in hold que are investigated and released on a daily basis.
- Maintains good working relationship with interdisciplinary team conducive to meeting organization and hospital goals of timely, accurate and complete medical records.
- Assist in preparing medical records for off-site storage and/or destruction of byproducts in accordance to corporate polices and procedures.
- Assists manager with credentialing responsibilities such as maintain up to date files for medical and allied, up to date expirables. Works with CVO (credentialing verification organization) to obtain updated information.
- Cross Trained in credentialing process as applicable.
- Meets standards of quality and productivity established by the organization.
- Performs other duties as requested.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience in Health Information Information or credentialing department
- Knowledge of HIPPA and Joint Commission standards
