We are a small hospital in a tight knight organization seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health Information (HIM) Tech to join our Hospital. This role will be integral in managing and maintaining patient health information in compliance with federal and state regulations. Our ideal candidate will have a strong background in the healthcare sector, specifically in handling patient medical records. This is a permanent full-time position, requiring 2+ years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities:
1. Review and analyze patient records, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulations, standards, and laws.
2. Use classification software to assign clinical codes for insurance reimbursement and data analysis.
3. Electronically record data for collection, storage, analysis, retrieval, and reporting.
4. Protect patients’ health information for confidentiality, authorized access for treatment, and data security.
5. Implement and manage the organization's health information system to ensure quality, accuracy, accessibility, and security.
6. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to identify and resolve any discrepancies in patient data.
7. Assist with audits and inquiries related to patient information, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
8. Develop and implement policies and procedures for health information systems to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
9. Train staff on record management procedures and policies, including compliance with federal and state laws.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field.
2. Minimum 5 years of experience in a hospital or healthcare organization, handling patient medical records.
3. Certified as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).
4. Proficient in coding and classification software, electronic health record system, and other healthcare IT systems.
5. Strong understanding of medical terminology, clinical coding, and health information regulations.
6. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in handling sensitive patient data.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals.
8. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
9. Knowledge of general accounting and finance principles and practices is a plus.
10. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in the management of health information.
