About the Job
PURPOSE
The HIM Specialist is responsible for creating, assembling, processing, reviewing and maintaining medical records and documents (paper based and electronic). This position may work under the guidance of the HIM Supervisor.
TASKS
- Pulls and refiles medical records
- Gathers and retrieves medical records and documents from staff, front desk, and treatment/service areas
- Creates, sorts and assembles medical records/documents
- Makes labels for medical records documents and scans them.
- Files documents into medical records; thin medical records, as required
- Performs focused reviews of charts/documents to detect incomplete or missing documentation
- Compiles report of deficient charts/documents for follow up by appropriate staff
- Preps documents for scanning into the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Assists internal and external customers with information inquiries
- Process discharge records for archival at offsite storage
- Perform data entry and related activities using EMR and other automated systems
- Serves as a back-up for other medical records staff at any location, as requested by medical supervisor
- Performs other medical records duties as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED
- One (1) to two (2) years’ medical experience (may substitute an approved training program for experience requirement)
- Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office applications and system databases
- Must maintain required credentials and mandatory training requirements to ensure compliance with all State regulations and CHCS policies
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage, be able to travel as needed, and be able to meet on a consistent basis the driving record requirements of the Company’s auto insurance carrier if you drive your vehicle during company business
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements to complete SAMA and CPR training including lifting up to 12 lbs. and supporting up to 55 lbs.; bending, stooping and getting on and off the floor without assistance.

Compensation Package
Salary Range: $31,200.00 – $37,440.00 Per Year
