Summary You will serve as a HEALTH PHYSICIST in the SAFETY DEPARTMENT(SPB60), NUCLEAR SAFETY DIVISION(SPB62) of STRATEGIC WEAPONS FACILITY PACIFIC. This position is part of the Department of Defense Civilian Acquisition Workforce Personnel Demonstration Project. The NH-3 broadband level encompasses positions equivalent to GS-12 and GS-13. Responsibilities You will be responsible for planning, implementing and operating a Radiological Affairs Support Program (RASP) Radiation Safety Program. You will conduct continuing on-site audits, inspections and surveys of operations and facilities to ensure compliance with established standards and requirements. You will monitor personnel radiation exposures and evaluates exposure data, determines the adequacy of personal protective equipment and radiation shielding facilities. You will serve as the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) for SWFPAC. You will serve as expert program manager, consultant, advisor and liaison for SWFPAC's interests. You will develop and provides radiological health and safety training for supervisors and workers. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NH-2 pay band or GS-11 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional health physicist interpreting and advising on radiological safety operations to recommend improvements to ionizing radiation health programs. Education Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess Degree: natural science or engineering that included at least 30 semester hours in health physics, engineering, radiological science, chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics, and/or calculus. or Combination of education and experience -- courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or other education; or certification as a health physicist by the American Board of Health Physics, plus appropriate experience and other education that provided an understanding of sciences applicable to health physics comparable to that described in paragraph 1. A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized.
