EssentialDuties/Responsibilities (may include, but are not limited to):
- While working to achieve N3B LLCC objectives, will ensure all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner; will maintain required safety, security and operational training; assure procedural and regulatory compliance; and make safety, security and quality an integral part of every task; including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.
- Contributes to the Radiation Protection Program’s mission of ensuring safety work controls are correctly appliedfor radiological/high-hazard work.
- Coordinates radiological control technician (RCT) efforts for those assigned to their team.
- Directs health physics support operations and interfaces with facility and program personnel to identify needs, resolve issues, and ensure appropriate radiation protection support given the priorities of emergency response, radiation protection program implementation, and programmatic support.
- Performs radiological work planning and ensures radiological controls are correctly applied, including high hazard work.
- Recommends policies and procedures including work control documents, safe-work methods, decontamination procedures, and radiological emergency procedures.
- Coordinates input of radiological work data in accordance with reporting processes. Provides radiation protection support for radiological work, including workplace surveillance and analysis/interpretation of radiological data.
- Interfaces with audit and assessment team members.
- Assists with completing ALARA Reviews and special projects assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Expert knowledge and ability to develop and apply highly advanced principles, concepts, and techniques of training management in specified areas of engineering, science or related disciplines.
- Skill and ability to perform critical strategic tasks and to interpret broad strategic requirements and develop and execute plans to satisfy them.
- Ability to have major impact on organizational success and productivity, with extensive latitude for independent judgment.
- Ability to communicate effectively at the highest levels.
- Ability to oversee operational activities for programs and projects within the organization.
- Ability to train and mentor more junior staff.
- Viewed as an expert within a specialty and as highly competent within the broad discipline, both internally and externally.
- Level of language skills, mathematical skills, communication skills, reasoning ability and computer skills necessary to perform essential functions of the job.
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelors' degree in appropriate discipline; however, a combination of education and relevant experience wherein the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the position’s duties and responsibilities have been adequately demonstrated is acceptable.
The career level of the position will be determined by the years of relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities; after a candidate has been chosen.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements (Light Work):
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
