The Health, Safety, & Environmental Technician will ensure a safe and compliant work environment by identifying and addressing unsafe conditions, behaviors, and environmental risks. Reporting to the HSE facility lead, they will monitor safety systems, input data into system, and identify opportunities for improvement. Key responsibilities include:

What You Will Do
The Health, Safety, & Environmental Technician will ensure a safe and compliant work environment by identifying and addressing unsafe conditions, behaviors, and environmental risks. Reporting to the HSE facility lead, they will monitor safety systems, input data into system, and identify opportunities for improvement. Key responsibilities include:
- Ensure regulatory compliance across employee behavior, equipment, tools, machinery, and processes, maintaining adherence to safety and environmental protocols.
- Conduct audits and inspections to ensure proper use of cranes, hoists, PPE, and maintenance of HSE equipment (eyewashes, ladders, first-aid kits, fire systems).
- Drive compliance with Behavior-Based Safety initiatives, focusing on engineering controls to eliminate accident risks.
- Identify and report safety concerns and unsafe conditions, implementing corrective actions.
- Promote "Stop Work" and "Safety Challenge" protocols to halt unsafe processes and reinforce safe work practices.
- Issue permits for hazardous work and oversee safe work plans for contractors and interns.
- Oversee waste management, risk analysis audits (HAREs), and other related activities.
- Participate in Safety Committee meetings, lead investigations of injuries and near misses, and support continuous improvement for Emergency Response Teams.
- Coordinate industrial hygiene testing (hearing conservation, indoor air quality) and oversee waste collection and recycling initiatives with third-party partners.
- Required Degree: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Years of Experience: 2 years of experience with HSE activities.
- Risk Assessing: Basic understanding of how to risk assess a machine or process.
- Statistical Techniques: Basic understanding of statistical techniques and terminology such as TRIR and DART.
- Auditing: Basic understanding of audit standards and principles (ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001).
- Computer Skills: General proficiency in using computers; must be able to enter data into a PC or mainframe terminal. Experience with Microsoft Office preferred.
