Health Services Coordinator (2024-2025) - Central Office - Bullitt County Public Schools

This position is for the 2024-2025 school year.

Basic Function:

Plan, coordinate, implement and modify a comprehensive health services program for the District; train others in proper screening techniques; communicate with others regarding a variety of health-relatedactivities or concerns.

Duties:
1. Evaluates services in the school health program to plan for more comprehensive services for the child,family and schools as necessary; assists in the formulation of the school health program.
2. Develops methods to evaluate the contribution of nursing in school health areas on a continuous basisrelated to nursing and health needs; coordinates with other professionals and citizens groups in researching, planning, and implementing the school health program.
3. Coordinates nursing activities of the Health Services Department with other services in the schooldistrict; communicates with the Health Services Department, school system and other communityresources and agencies to develop improved systems of early case findings and referrals for improved
child care.
4. Participates as a team-member for in-service education in schools, Pupil Personnel Services and theHealth Department; organizes and assists in the health education of parents, teachers and administrative
groups.
5. Maintains current standards of nursing in special program areas and provides services according toagency policies and programs.
6. Maintains and implements the requirements for physical examinations and immunizations required bylaw; coordinates activities with Pupil Personnel as needed.

7. Promotes the appropriate use of screening techniques in vision, hearing, dental and other tests; arrangesfor the training of teachers or volunteers in performing screenings; plans for the follow-up of suspected

findings; assists teachers and volunteers in developing an awareness of signs of illness or other healthproblems.
10. Participates in teacher-nurse/teacher-nurse-parent conferences regarding problems of individual pupilsor the classroom as a whole; provides individual counseling according to established guidelines.
11. Encourages families to provide for periodic health examinations of their children by utilizing services ofprivate physicians, dentists and clinics; interprets the school health program to the family; consults with
parents regarding the health of their children; notifies parents and pupils for needed immunization andtests as required.
12. Observes, evaluates and reports to physicians, with parental approval, the pupil's health status and anyreaction at school to drugs or treatments prescribed by the physician; interprets to the physician thosefactors or environments that might effect the child's condition.
13. Provides consultation to teachers and school authorities on appropriate use of records of each child'shealth needs and interprets these needs to teachers, parents and others.
14. Acts as a resource person to school personnel, pupils and Parent/Teacher organizations regarding thevarious aspects of health education; provides or recommends health education materials for classroomuse.
15. Participates in formulating policies for the care of pupils who become ill or injured at school; arrangesfor the instruction of school personnel to give emergency care.
16. Supervises the reporting of any known or suspected communicable disease cases to the local healthdepartment.
17. Punctual and regular in attendance.
18. Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Certification: Registered Nurse

• Experience: Three years nursing experience

Step 0: $47,489.00

Step 10: $65,498.00

New employees to the district may bring in up to 10 years of comparable, full-time, verified experience.(NOTE: It will be the responsibility of the applicant hired to submit the BCPS verification of experience form to their prior employer to complete and return to HR.)

Although Classified positions are paid on an hourly rate, salary is set up on a year long contract and divided by the number of reamining paychecks. This position is considered an elevenmonthemployee on the pay schedule. 3 paychecks will be paid at the end of June.
